Regular Member
1. Physicians who practice or reside in the greater Columbia metropolitan area and are duly licensed under the laws of the State of SC.
2. Physicians who are in active military service and stationed in the greater Columbia metropolitan area but not required to register or be licensed by the SC State Board of Medical Examiners.
3. Physicians who are engaged in teaching or in scientific work or research in subjects allied to medicine in a reputable institution, college, laboratory or hospital located in the greater Columbia metropolitan area.
4. Physicians in the greater Columbia metropolitan area who are federal employees and not required to register or be licensed by the SC State Board of Medical Examiners.
New Regular Member
New regular members must meet one of the four criteria for regular membership in the Society. New regular members pay a $200 application fee. New regular member dues are prorated for the first full year of membership based on the date of application. The membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st.
Resident Member
Graduates of accredited medical or osteopathic schools who are participating in residency training in the greater Columbia metropolitan area.
Associate Member
1. Physicians in the greater Columbia metropolitan area who were members of the Society or another AMA component medical society but are no longer in active practice and do not qualify for Fellow membership status.
2. Physicians who are in active practice outside the greater Columbia metropolitan area.
Fellow Member
A physician who has reached the age of 70 or has retired from active practice and has been a member in good standing in this or another AMA component medical society of this or another state for at least 25 consecutive years, provided the member has been a member of Columbia Medical Society for a minimum of 10 years.
Honorary Member
A physician who has been a member in good standing of Columbia Medical Society for forty consecutive years.
